Allowing multiple status values to be recorded would require a significant amount of effort to implement - particularly around the grading and auto-marking processes - I can't imagine this would be something I would implement as a volunteer, but if someone wanted to fund the work I could definitely look into this - but you'd need to have a good sized budget to do it.
