I have the current version installed in 4.0 beta - I haven't created certificates yet but it installed without error so I am hopeful...

I just installed Moodle 4.0+ (Build: 20220429) on my Moodle-4-Mac install (which had Moodle 3.11.6+) and the Custom Certificate is not available. Does anyone know if and when it will be?

Does the 3.11 version not work in 4.0?

Hi Emma,

Hope all is well. Orzu is here. I was wondering if you could know the answer for the moving/positioning the elelents on cetrificate, and uploading the image as a watermark on the cert? I am having the same issues as Ron, in his post Moodle 4.0 below. Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Moodle 4.0

Dan O'Reilly -
Hi Mark,

Yes, 3.11 does work.

However, it does not update with 4.0 in the manner that this plugin did for previous updates (i.e., 3.xx.x) where the plugin was automatically included when updating to the newer Moodle version. I updated to Moodle version 4.0 but the plugin was not included, so I assumed it would not work with 3.11. With your message, I went back to Site Administration > Plugins overview > Custom certificate and there was a link there to upgrade to 3.11. I performed the upgrade to 3.11 and the certificate plugin was upgraded. At this point, it appears to be working fine. Thanks for checking into this.

Ron Griffith -
Ive installed a fresh version of Moodle 4.0 and when I go to create a certificate I can NOT get it to position the elements. The background image moves out of sync after saving. And the drag and drop feature does not allow you to posistion the elements they just pop right back where they were ...very frustrating. Any ideas?

Hi Ron,

I have the same problem. Can not aline well, and the new feature to move the elements around does not seem working. Another thing, can not upload image/logo as a watermark. When I finally did upload the logo, it is huge and doesn't fit anywhere.
Did you get any answer? I am afraid the new V4.1 is not used by many just yet, too.

Re: Moodle 4.0

Andrew Zubakin -

Hello everyone,
I have also started using the 4.0 version and unfortunately the "custom certificate" plugin seems not to work properly. In my case, I guess that the problem is the Y axis. For instance, I need to position student's name at X = 105, Y = 190, but after the saving, Y axis randomly changes (e.g. it becomes 54). I hope this information might help to find a solution.

Hi Andrew,

I have changed the theme Boost to Classic, and it worked wonders. All is well now. Try different theme, it might helpé Let me know how it goes.

Can confirm this is happening in Moodle 4 with Boost.  Switched to Classic and it works fine.

Hello, thank you very much for this suggestion. Yes, I chose the classic theme by changing the theme from Site Management, Appearance, Theme Chooser (at the bottom) and finally the problem with the slip in the certificate was fixed.

Thank you very much.

I hope the problem with the new theme will be fixed as soon as possible.

I am pretty new to Moodle. Can you help me find where to switch from Boost to Classic?

I am having the same issues with the certificate and need it fixed asap.

Thanks!

Re: Moodle 4.0

Orzu Ka -

Hi Emily,

By default, usually, we have a Boost theme in Moodle. In order to change the Boost to Classic or any other theme you will need to have admin login credentials, then you go to the Admin site-Appearance-Theme-Theme selector and chose the theme you like. Classic should be there, too.

Hope it helps.

I am having some issues with alignment in Moodle 4. Inability to drag and drop the name and date without it springing back to the corner.

Also the imagebackground jumps up after pressing save and preview, covering the save buttons.

Seems like a bug in 4.0. I am no longer working as a Moodle developer so would appreciate it if someone could come up with a fix and create a merge request.

Hi Alastair,

Which theme are you using? It worked for me when I switched to Classic theme. Also, what I noticed, when I click on the + and then drag and drop, it works pretty well and well aligns with the rest.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply, been on holiday, I am currently using "Moove" and would ideally like to keep it as it better suits my audience?

But you could just switch (I use the switch theme by url feature) to create the templates and leave the site as is.

Re: Moodle 4.0

Problem is, i like using Moove, it works for my VLE, perhaps the issue is with the theme if the cert works in other themes.

Re: Moodle 4.0

Melanie Scott -
Keep using Moove--change the theme in the course for the time it takes to get the cert positioned properly and then shift it back! I use Boost with 4.0 and all my certs are fine (they were created pre-upgrade, though and I reuse courses vs building from scratch most of the time). I'll probably test this but I would bet is will work.

Re: Moodle 4.0

Dan O'Reilly -
Just to confirm that the Custom Certificate works fine for me using the Boost theme in Moodle 4. As with Melanie, I created the certificate pre-upgrade, and the certificate works fine for me with no alteration. However, I did have a problem updating the plugin at first (see my earlier post on this topic).

This was after changing the theme as well.

Converted to Classic, now it seems to work fine.

I still have this problem too. My jpeg background comes up in the wrong spot, covering the save/close buttons... I can reposition the text and other items, it's the background that isn't cooperating at all. I've tried changing the theme, uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin.... it just doesn't work!

Re: Moodle 4.0

Emily Weiler -

I never saw an official fix for this issue, but something that worked for me finally:

When I go to edit a new certificate I don't add the background image until the very end. I add name, dates, etc. Once those are added, I add in the background image and move it using the arrows to the top of the list. Only then do I click on Reposition Elements. I can then move the elements around and click save and they all stay where they're supposed to be.

Maybe try that! I use Moodle Cloud 4.0, Theme is Boost.

There is an official fix (see https://github.com/mdjnelson/moodle-mod_customcert/commit/b84d0db9bf564f75d0afb8a6ec307bdbe443d78a) which was put into a new 4.0 release. I wonder if MoodleCloud are running the updated version. I can ask a friend who works on MoodleCloud but he is on holiday until Monday next week.

I have had the same problem, they advised switching the theme to Boost, making corrections then put it back to whichever theme you're using.

To date, this has worked for me.
