Does core H5P have "Save Content State"?

Does core H5P have "Save Content State"?

I wanted to know if the "Core H5P" (in Moodle 3.9, blue icon) has a "Save Content State" feature. The H5P plugin (black icon) has a setting for this. I ask because we're using the new Cornell Notes H5P activity and the student's text content does not save when a student exits the page. In the non-core version, the content would save at scheduled intervals as defined the H5P site admin settings, but I don't see anything for this in the non-core. I've had a student leave the page up for about 8 minutes before navigating away and when they returned the text was no longer there and there was no record on the teacher's end -- they would see "View all attempts (0 submitted)" still.

This is an activity added directly to and access from the course page with "Enable attempt tracking" set to "yes" and "Review attempts" set to "Participants can review their own attempt". Thank you,

In addition to what PapiJo already said: Cornell Notes is not supposed to track submission of texts. Its sole purpose is to store them on the server and to retrieve them later on, e. g. for revisiting content (and one's own thoughts) when preparing for an exam.

And one extra note: I have added a "save" button that will allow to manually trigger saving in addition to auto-saving (the "save content state" feature is still required though) and a "copy" button that will export the notes to the clipboard. The H5P core team has been informed that they could update Cornell Notes on the H5P Hub.

I'm OK if the core's H5P Cornell Notes only "stores the text on the server and to retrieve them later" - how do I get that to happen? It happens with the "save content state" of the Non-Core version, but nothing is saving for the student at all in the Core version despite how long they have the text on the page before navigating away.

Hi John!

There currently is no way to do that if you are using the moodle core integration of H5P. The moodle team has not yet implemented that feature. I know that their developers are reading posts here as well, so I assume they'll reply soon and tell whether that feature is planned at all and if yes, whether there's already some schedule for adding it.

Cheers,
Oliver

Is there a tracker issue for that where we could vote?
Run a search on https://tracker.moodle.org for
component = H5P AND text ~ save AND resolution = Unresolved ORDER BY updated DESC
but can't see anything relevant.

Hi!
I guess the issue you're looking for is https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-67789 眨眼
I've added a link to this post to the issue and I would suggest voting it if you think that's something that should be prioritised (or even better, work on a patch if you can 吐舌头)
Kind regards,
Sara
