What is the best way to set up a pretest that, if passed, the student can skip the lesson and get a certificate?

Just a quick thought...
The pretest is a Quiz, with a passing grade set, right? If so, you could do the following:
The Lesson module is available to participants with a PreTest grade < passing grade, set through Restrict access rule on the lesson (or the section it's part of). This rule makes the lesson unavailable to participants who met the criterium of passing grade on the pretest.
Then, proceed to set the Certificate as follows, with two sets of rules:
1. Lesson (with grade or activity completion set) completed, or
2. Passing grade on pretest
Shouldn't be too hard to set up, I guess...
