Just upgraded to 1.6 Beta via cvs and after the upgrade to the database got the release notes for 1.53?

Sorry, can't help with integration, never tried it.
Might get some information here and here. There are a few other posts that may be relevant if you search for Mambo as well as Joomla.
Also, there is a Spanish forum that you may find usefull if you haven't been there yet (can't tell as I unfortunately don't speak Spanish).

The release notes are under construction now here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Release_Notes
