This is not a simple task, so start with using your generic knowledge of PHP, SCSS and object orientated / functional programming along with debugging to see how the code works using the CSS classes in the output of the carousel as starting point to find the PHP that outputs it. That will then open the door to understanding what needs to be adapted and changed to solve the problem.
