I am also experiencing this issue with latest STACK and Maxima 5.43.2 on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (maxima was installed from APT repos)

BTW, all other Moodle servers I am managing uses RedHat 7 with Maxima 5.41.0 and latest STACK plugin, that works fine.
