I am honoured to have been asked to do a presentation called "Riding the Moodle Wave" on and for Horizon Wimba tomorrow evening (Tuesday 14th March) at 5pm EST/10pm BST.

Here is the URL: http://www.horizonwimba.com/community/upcoming.php

I will be talking about my experiences of using Moodle in a UK High School setting and showing examples of the students use of the tools within Moodle including innovative (by puils) use of Forums to create film scripts and Wikis to create songs from scratch.

It'd be great if some of your were able to sign up for the session.  It will be archived for viewing later for those who will be in bed by then smile

I am also presenting about Moodle at an Independent Schools conference at Wellington College in Berkshire this Thursday - it should be noted that other biggies (don't laugh now!) such as Fronter, FirstClass, StudyWiz, SanSpace, SORCE, Firefly, Learwise and Sharepoint will there promoting their VLE's.  This will be an important presentation to representatives from over 100 Independent schools - I hope to represent Moodle with pride. here's the agenda for that conference: http://tinyurl.com/fa37l .

Bet no other products'll be giving away a VLE on a disc! smile  Hope that'll give Moodle the upper hand on the others.

Just got off the phone with a guy from Avacast, another streaming course application, who said they will have full Moodle integration by next fall.

Sounds good as they offer archives & files in Flash (swf) format (so when COVCEl gets their Red5 based conferencing system ready we should still be able to use the avacast filessmile.

Claims it works well with 56k, also.

I've registered, too - even though it's beyond my bedtime - but one should not sleep while something that interesting is going on in cyberspace.

Looking forward to it,

Ulrike

I am in participating in the presentation right now.

Drew, I think you must be a terrific teacher. I know that you are a very persuasive, effective advocate for Moodle!

I am proud to be your colleague.

Drew,

I very much enjoyed the presentation this afternoon.  Thanks! (My applet window closed and wouldn't allow me to thank you there at the end.)  I hadn't participated in a Wimba course before.  Mind boggling possibilities.  Very impressive array of activities.  I love the role play idea.  I've done it in class on paper, but haven't tried it in forums, yet.  That was one of those, "Why haven't I done this yet in Moodle?" moments for me.  I have used the wiki as a way for kids to keep up with group work, too.  It is very effective, but you are right about it taking some time to get them to be comfortable editing each other's work in public.

I'm still digesting, but very thought provoking ideas.  Thanks again,

Lesli

Drew,

I missed your presentation sad, I don't know why I thought it was today. Thank goodness it's archived, so I could watch it. Great presentation. You  taught me a new German word: Schlimmbesserung - I even found the English translation: deprovement
