can you please give me more details about how you configured it? I don't know what you mean exactly by "in registration form", it could be in auth instructions, in a profile field, etc.
I'm guessing you're using email based self-registration. I tried to put it in auth instructions and it worked fine for me. Please tell me exactly which field in Moodle you modified to put the lang filter.
It would be great if you could add a screenshot too like Marcus suggested.
