I am setting up a few online courses. My idéa is to build it around Joomla, and then use Moodle as the learning module. I know of course that Moodle is capable of a lot, but not all the way for me. I'm planning a webshop, a good CMS and lot's of flexibility, so my choice is Joomla. I am now trying to accomplish that if a user logs in to Joomla they should automatically get logged in to Moodle as well. I did try the external db settings in Moodle, but didn't make it work. I also found some modifications, for example Joomoodle and also Cas Nuy did write some module before that is on the integrations part of Moodle downloads. Actually that's written for Mambo, but that's almost the same as Joomla. It didn't work for me either.
Is there anyone out there that did a successful integration of Joomla/Mambo and Moodle??? If u did that, please tell me how.
Best Regards,
Mats
I've contracted my programming out to get this done. I see that several people have been looking at it and have parts of it done. I need it before I can open my site as I want the school to be a commercial free as possible with Joomla being my commercial side. So having a single log-in is very key to my success. I don't have a great deal of money but they are reasonable and hopefully will have it done soon. As long as they don't go out of my budget range.
I have other things I need also but this one is key. I wish I could do programming but yet it really is beyond what I want to learn. Too many other components to pull together for my endeavor to be successful.

Currently our code is a bit unweildy and needs to be updated for the latest Moodle, but hopefully I can release some of it in future.
Is Central Authentication System a separate system? Is this to athenticate against a central database? I don't really have anything to authenticate the users against since this is really a business application and the students will all be new. My present goal is a single registration point (in my case Joomla) with the ability to go back and forth without having to re-log in. The last I tested it there were still a few bugs, but I think he has it just about taken care of. I should be hearing from him tonight. He may be lurking out there reading these messages. I'm not a programmer but I will try to find out as much as I can.
What else can the Central Authentication System be used for?
Hi,
First I have no idea how good your system really is, but that being said...anyone who would go out to a competitors forum to bad mouth the company or product sponsoring the forum in favor of pushing their product is suspect to me. I personally don't think it is an appropriate way to market and says a lot about the company doing it. We are almost through with our Joomla and Moodle single log-in so we will continue with that. I'm very happy with Moodle and don't think it can be beat. JMO.

On the plus side, I can't see your business being around for long when the other people in this thread release their code in the true spirit of open source.
I for one vote that this spam is deleted.

Hi,
sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you. My integration is complete at this point. I may have more done after I play with it for a while. My site is still being built and should open within the next month or so. I'm still testing the integration but at first glance it seems doable. At least a lot furth along than I was.
Here is the link where my prgrammer posted the code.

Hope it helps. If anyone else tests it, I would love some feedback on problems you are running into.

Thanks!

I have successfully integrated Joomla and Moodle using JFusion component. Moodle framework appears inside a joomla wrapper. Log on to: http://www.jfusion.org to know more about the integration and watch the video tutorial at: http://www.vimeo.com/2650573

We have been using a Moodle/Joomla MashUp for about 6 months now, and you really can get the best of both worlds rather than switch over to a JoomlaLMS.
Visit our site, for an example of a (dare i say) Moomla page, and happy to let you know how it all works. Thanks Anjana, we did use jfusion for this site.
I find moodle is great for training, and easy for my training staff to use, but joomla gives you nicer templates for marketing purposes and some very powerful plugins { newletters, media centres, link sharing }. For those in the know, moodle is the master and joomla is the slave in terms of user management.
I have also written a bit about this at neovet.blogspot.com if you search under moodle or joomla.
1) Is your Moodle/Joomla MashUp is still working?
2) How long did it take you to integrate Joomla with Moodle?
3) Do you have an idea if we can configure Moodle's UI to look the same as whatever the design for the Joomla site is?
Thank you very much and I'm hoping to get answers as soon as possible..
