Fellow moodlers,

I cannot thank you all enough for the uplifting and encouraging conference in Savannah. I feel so re-invigorated! The moodle community is even more personable and enthusiastic than I imagined! Every presentation was interesting and informative.

I know I sound like some crazy "pollyana", but it is true! Art, Debbie and I were all so excited to have this opportunity and it far surpassed all our expectations! Our only negative was that our colleague Janet had the flu and could not come with us. sad

Thanks to one and all, most of all to Martin for the vision of moodle. That PhD will be completed any day now! tongueout

Mary is right.

And it really was great meeting so many people who we truly do admire. I hate to admit it, but face to face interaction has its place in the world. wink

I am already pumped for my next Moodle Moot.

Thank you for putting this on, Bryan. It was great.

P.S. Yes, Ulrike, we got the pictures! དགའ་འཛུམ་

Mary and Art,

I'm so happy that you had a great time in Savannahsmile. Can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories. You are right, Art, f2f is very important.
We were all thinking of you while sitting in cold Germany. (Our classrooms are heating up, though. Moodle is spreading like wildfire, especially in Baden-Württemberg schools).

Keep on moodling,

Ulrike

Wasn't me! I just brought a few sparks back with me after visiting your school almost 2 years ago.
BTW, could you please send me some pics before tomorrow, I have to go to a GAPP seminar for 3 days where I'll meet teachers from all over Germany. We have to talk   about our partner schools - so guess what I'll talk about? I just can't let such an opportunity pass without spreading the Moodle gospel.

I added a few photos too.  དགའ་འཛུམ་  If people would send more of them it would be good.

I had a shortish but good discussion with Afroze from Blackboard on Sunday (nice lady!) ... it marks the first time Moodle and Blackboard have "talked" really.  དགའ་འཛུམ་

Hey! Can you tell us more about that interesting talk with Afroze Mohammed? He participated in "The Grand Debate: Open Source vs. Proprietary Course Management", at ITC. I wonder which were the conclusions of that interesting debate.

I don't think there were any conclusions  དགའ་འཛུམ་

The question was "Is proprietary software dead?" which I personally disagreed with since I think there's room for all kinds of software in the world.  So I ended up agreeing with Afroze

It wasn't a good question really, but no-one was taking it very seriously anyway.

Art,

Thanks a lot for the pictures. I have to teach several Moodle courses within the next 2 weeks - I'll start them with your pictures: Moodle - the software which is alive (in contrast to the commercial products which, in my opinion, are as dead as a doornail)
MooDieLEbendige Software!

Proud to be the friend of somebody who encountered the 'Rock Star' smile

These things are SO much fun.  འཛུམ་དྲག་  We had a ball, thanks Bryan!

They only took ten minutes or so to get used to, and you can zip about with such ease.  After we got off, walking seemed like a real drag. དགའ་འཛུམ་

Hello Everyone -

The Savannah Moot was great! I had a blast and finally met so many of you, although it looks like I missed meeting a lot of you too. I have some pictures that I will post soon.

My impressions there were:
  1. Moodle is for real. People aren't considering Moodle just because they can't afford others. They are considering Moodle because of all it has to offer. The cost thing is just a bonus.
  2. As before, I saw teachers as the prime movers in this area. They see ways to use Moodle to enhance the learning experience and want it for this reason.
  3. The Moodle community is filled with the best of the best. These people want to reshape the world. I know this sounds "hippy" like, but its true.
Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks, Bryan, for doing this.

What a great day! Thanks to Bryan, Jon, Jim and everyone involved in organizing the conference. There was terrific energy and I'm excited about the future of the Moodle community.

I also can't believe hopw many people wanted signed copies of the book! I still can't get used to it.

Thanks everyone and Happy Moodling!
