New Moodle version - availability of release notes and translations

Hi,

Not sure it's the best place to launch this discussion, feel free to move it elsewhere if needed.

Trying to keep the french documentation up to date, at least for release notes (and upgrading) pages, i just have a little question/suggestion : would it be possible that the release notes pages be created 3/4 days before the release date, to let translators have time for the translation?

That would allow to have complete translations of the page, when the release are officially announced in News forum (and emailed to users) and would allow a better information for all people not having english as first language.

This would be really helpfull/needed for major versions, because translators are not always available when new versions comes out. It's less important for minor versions, but could be appreciated too.

Hi,

Moodle 3.7.2 being soon here, i'd like to have other people's feeling about this suggestion, and perhaps release notes completed this week.

Don't hesitate to indicate if i should better create a tracker issue for that.

Hi Séverin,

Many thanks for your work in translating the release notes and other documentation.

We're trying to get the 3.7.2 notes written as soon as possible (no need to create a tracker issue) and are aiming to have them completed by some time on Friday.

Should something be added in the release process documentation to precise that the release notes should be updated soon enough to let time to translators to translate them before the release day (so that it is done for each new version)?

Thanks Séverin, I've mentioned in the release process doc that we'll aim to have the release notes mostly complete on the Wednesday before release, and fully complete on the Friday.
