Moodle and clean URL's

Hello everyone,

I have one question for you. I've been searching for a way to customize URL's in Moodle in a way that these don' look like this:

https://www.moodle.com/course/view.php?id=1

but rather something like:

https://www.moodle.com/course/slug-of-name-of-course-with-id-1

I've read several posts and followed several links, but only thing I've found so far is:

https://github.com/brendanheywood/moodle-local_cleanurls

where the author states, that it is not production ready, there are more than 50 issues and last activity was 2 years ago.

I'd like to clean URLs on my site, so I'm just asking if there is something like clean URLs in the core (or is planned for future) or if local_cleanurls plugin is now the best way to go.

Thanks for your thoughts

Thanks Matteo and Darko for finding time to reply. Both solutions look like a place to start.

Hi Moodlers
I have been looking for a way to get user and SEO friendly URLS in Moodle and am surprised there seems to be nothing for 3.2 onwards.
Brendans plugin sounded like a winner for us non techies, but there seems nothing after that. (Sorry, Matteo, github is beyond my ability)

Are there any plans to bring Moodle up to date with SEO URLS?
Many thanks

It doesn't appear there has been any further activity in this area, other than those already mentioned in this thread. The author of the local_cleanurls plugin commented on GitHub to say he's on extended leave from Catalyst IT, so is not currently working on the plugin, and no-one else in the community seems to have picked it up. If this is a requirement for your Moodle site, you could try contacting Catalyst or another Moodle partner to see if they can provide you with a solution.
