I was not actually thinking of using the time of the commit, but now you mention it, it would be interesting to see what it showed. I was thinking just that the way the time is stored in the commit comment includes the time-zone, so we could just get a distribution of 'active' Moodle developers by time zone. I was not in any way suggesting that that it was the only thing we should look at, just that it is something that is relatively easy to calculate, so we might as well. However, I have not had half an hour to play with doing it yet.
