Moodle HQ is pleased to share its plan to support organisations, institutions and companies using Moodle to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You can now view the plan at: https://moodle.com/2017/12/21/moodle-gdpr-approach-plan
We have been working with our community, our Moodle Partner network and developers to firstly gauge their compliance needs and recently with a specialist privacy lawyer in Europe to help develop this plan.
Central to our support for GDPR compliance will be the development of plugins to cover the areas of:
- on boarding of new users
- privacy statements
- tracking of consent
- handling of subject access requests
The plugins will be available for Moodle 3.3 and 3.4, so we recommend upgrading to these versions as soon as possible.
We will continue to provide updates on the progress and implementation of our plan. The plugins will also be incorporated into Moodle 3.5 which is due to be released in May 2018.
We welcome your thoughts on this topic, so please read and follow the forum discussion at: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=352538
We at Moodle HQ look forward to continuing the collaboration with our community, Partners and developers to progress this plan.
