If it continues that way, then I would suspect something with the remote desktop is blocking something but it is very strange that it would only block certain activities. I still suspect a setting somewhere - ip restriction maybe? 2.5 is pretty old - not sure if there were any strange issues with that version. What happens if the client tries to log in (not through remote desktop)?
