How to remove/reset annotate PDFs?

How to remove/reset annotate PDFs?

Hello everyone,

I am afraid I made a little booboo. blush I had never tried to use annotate PDFs before. Unfortunately, while grading final exams, I decided to play around with that stamping feature always assuming there'd be a reset button. Now I am facing the slightly ridiculous situation of having an essay happily stamped all over the place.

So, how do I get rid of an annotate PDF? I'm using Moodle 3.2.1+ (last week's version).

Cheers!

No 'undo', but ... in the tool bar there is a 'arrow' (first pic) which is a selection tool.   Click that first, then click on the errant stamp.   A box should appear around that stamp and in the upper right hand corner of that box, a 'trash can' icon. (second pic)  Click trash can.   Stamp should be removed. (fingers crossed).

Also, to have the changes appear ... one needs the ability to run the site cron job ... there is a routine (now called 'task') in there that deals with updating that information:

Execute scheduled task: Prepare submissions for annotation (assignfeedback_editpdf\task\convert_submissions)
... started 08:48:39. Current memory use 8.9MB.
Convert 1 submission attempt(s) for assignment 1
... used 25 dbqueries
... used 0.011998176574707 seconds
Scheduled task complete: Prepare submissions for annotation (assignfeedback_editpdf\task\convert_submissions)
Guess those that have used PDF annotation tools before don't have any issues with the tool bar icons.   Would be nice if a 'tooltip' box would appear to give a hint about each button in the tool bar. ;)   Still, spending some tinker time with new tools like Annotate is well worth the time spent in the long run! ;)

Thanks a million, Ken! That did the trick. I still think it might be a good idea to think about a "reset button" which would simply erase the entire PDF. Also I agree, tooltips would be a real time saver for those uninitiated. smile

Ken, thanks so much for this fix.  I'm new to using the annotating and I panicked when I put x's all over a student's paper trying to remove the first one!  Having a tooltip box is a wonderful idea.  Hope it comes soon.  Thanks again.

More then welcome!  I too did same ... tinkered ... but never selected the *right* tool to get the object selected thus no trashcan.  Not intuitive ... unless one has had plenty of experience with Adobe tools, I guess.  Uhhhh, am 'frugal' ... don't buy Adobe anything. ;)

And feel free to mark the posting useful! smile
