I do wonder if that's because MoodleMoot isn't held near Wales and the extent to which people in Wales are just less inclined to travel to outside their region. I suspect a MoodleMoot in Wales would pick up a lot of Welsh first timers who might then keep coming to conferences elsewhere. PyCon UK moved from Coventry to Cardiff last year and was very successful.

I keep telling myself I ought to go to PHPcon UK, but I don't think it's ever been held outside of London, so I never go. I only go to MoodleMoot in London because I went to and enjoyed the earlier MoodleMoots elsewhere.
