TRAVIS-CI: I dispare...

TRAVIS-CI: I dispare...

I  feel as though my attempts at trying to fix GoLogo to fall in with current requirements for Themes when Moodle CORE seems to have 'blight'., is an utter waste of time and effort.

As a direct consequence, and perhaps that's not a bad thing all in all, I have decided, with regret to give up all this Moodle theme stuff and retire gracefully.

Cheers

Mary

Mary, that is very sad news for all the community and for Moodle itself if we can't persuade you to reconsider!

It would be a real shame if something like Travis (which currently has issues of its own in the code_checker that Eloy is investigating) were to be the final straw!

Your mentoring and support since I first joined the community has been a pillar for me and I have learned so much from you - and not just in terms of Moodle theming! I have always known that behind the icon on the forums is a lady with a genuine desire to help and support and a great friend within the Moodle ranks. Your support, both in the forums and away from them, has been invaluable to me over the past few years!

You will be sorely missed, for your expertise, your insights and knowledge and even more so for your attitude and support in the themes forum!

Richard

Unacceptable!  Inconceivable!  Ditto what everyone has said...

Theming would not be the same without you, Mary.

As of now you should really consider stepping back from your decision, for everyone so far replied has helping hand badge intact. means these people have been around here long enough to know you and your efforts in helping regarding issues related to themes.

If Andy's offer doesn't convince you, how about fairy cakes gwenu

Now you can safely consider coming back saying, you were actually celebrating April fool, a month early!

I am sorry to hear that Mary. May I ask for more details, background and/or particular issue that made you feel unhappy like that? It would be just sad if it was a misinterpretation of some automatically generated machine warnings. Or anything else that we could improve.

Thank you David,

Yes, the main bug bear was the fact that the failed notices I was receiving from TravisCI were all coming from the renderers that I have in the GoLogo theme, which I have since deleted from my GitHub, but I still have the theme on my computer and backed up on my Laptop.

It is so utterly soul destroying not knowing how to fix this which is I suppose what triggered my decision to call it a day.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mary

Hi Mary,

Don't despair, this is the latest Essential TravisCI that passes: https://travis-ci.org/gjb2048/moodle-theme_essential/jobs/112443586 - so many 'Violations' - more information than actual errors as some bits cannot be changed due to the API.  The only things that matter are real errors that need to be fixed and that can be done.

Cheers,

Gareth

Thanks everyone...for your kind words and support.

Sometimes it feels like the world is closing in on you and there is no way out.

But then you see a little chink of light and realise all is not lost,
and then you begin to notice the path in front of you has fewer pot-holes than before.

All is well now, thanks to Gareth, who saved the day!

Perhaps Andy should send Gareth a bottle of whiskey. gwenu

God bless you all

Glad you made it through the gloom.  We would all be lost without you.  Well done, Gareth!!

Well, I traveled a bit and pay minimal attention to my emails and then I come back to this.

I have no advice Mary, except maybe take a complete break from Moodle, Wechat, GMail, The Mirror and everything keyboardish sometimes, and do something different.

Whatever happens and you decide to do, I wish you well.

Moodle is just a bunch of zeros and ones after-all.  very powerfully functioning zeros and ones I admit, but just zeros and ones.

I must find out what TRAVIS is.

Regards

-Derek

hi Derek,

I have taken myself away from it all...I have taken up crochet, I spent all last week crocheting myself a shawl. It's nice and cozy round my shoulders...and lovely and warm,

As for Moodle I guess I'll be staying here a bit longer, but not as active.

Hope you are well?

Cheers and thanks

Mary
