One DOC ... multiple file types. In Moodle, just duplicate the URL resource link, edit, change just the ending ... format=pdf to format=docx.
More significance ... IF user has a Mac with the Mac spin on the office suite, Mac user can open such documents as .pages.
And ... what of videos?

guest access allowed but accunts on site could be G+ authenticated.
This would have been the solution to an American Sign Language course where students were given assignments (videos of instructor signing the assignment) to submit a video of themselves performing the signing in the assignment to be submitted! (think about that one for a while).
Hmmmm ... language courses? Can re-call ... many/many moons ago thinking it was helpful to see my French teacher say certain words.
So far, am seeing lots and lots of BIG +'s for integrating Google with Moodle! ;)
