Anything like Crocodoc for Moodle?

Anything like Crocodoc for Moodle?

At one of my teaching gigs, they use Blackboard, which is completely awful aside from one saving feature. There's a plugin called Crocodoc (though now apparently called "Box View"), which is totally awesome. I can grade students' Word documents right inside Blackboard without having to download them, make inline comments and then upload them again.  It allows inline comments, highlighting, etc.

Is there anything similar to this for Moodle. I did a forum search and found exactly 1 post that mentioned this plugin being used in Blackboard & Canvas. I'm sure having a feature like this would bring a lot more people on board the Moodle train.

Here's a picture of it in action:

Students can upload their Word documents as PDFS and the teacher can grade them and comment inline, highlight ,etc. This has been around since Moodle 2.5 - see Annotating PDFs in the documentation. (Alternatively they can just type their essay directly into Moodle and the teacher can edit it inline from Moodle's text editor.)

We developed this feature on Google Docs base as new assignment submission type. So student can insert his Google document into assignment and than teacher can see it embed into assignment page. Also teacher can write inline comments, mark submission, write messages dirrect to Google Docs account. And with GD you can use word, excel, ppt documents.

Dear Vlad, could you please provide more information about your Google Docs submission type.  How can we find it and use it?

I would love to see a feature like this as well.  Also, it would be nice if the teacher can enter the assignment grade right on the annotate PDF toolbar.  Many of our teachers use Schoology and they are able to do all of this very quickly.  See in the image below...in Schoology, teachers can fly though submitted assignments very quickly, they can annotate, and can assign grades in the same window.  The pull down menu with the student name allows them to switch to the next student.

I would love to see these features in Moodle.  Is it worth requesting these features in tracker?

Yes - tracker request would be appropriate.
