Simple question: Is mobile SUPPOSED to require second login to website login screen?

I've gone through the "simple" set up procedure: enable moodle mobile.
I've installed the Android and iPad apps.
When I add a new user to the mobile app, the mobile app connects and displays the list of courses. If I click on a course and then select content, it redirects to the website's login screen which I would expect to see if I used Firefox, Safari, etc.
I don't get why AFTER ALREADY AUTHENTICATING a user has to see a web login screen and do the whole thing over again.
I think I'm missing something critical, but the mobile documentation is convoluted if you get beyond "just enable mobile services."
Can anyone enlighten me as to what needs to be done so that a SECOND login is not required?
Also, if I go ahead and put my userid/pw in the website screen which comes up, it basically takes me to the website. I have to then navigate as if I were simply using mobile Safari or Android's browser(s). I thought the purpose of mobile was to present a cleaner "mobile" interface. Again, if the first part of this question reveals that the site's mobile isn't set up properly, then there's a chance that the rest won't be working correctly either. I realize that could be the case. Hoping for some help.

You might have to install the local_mobile plugin for it to do the 'login from app transfers to an activity running in the in-app browser'.
But I'm sure I read this has been fixed - Juan can advise better.

I'm not sure where to find that. I can't find it in the supported Moodle plugins list nor on the local installation.
Any pointers?

sorry for my late response.
Short answer: Yes, the app forces you to a second login, is a known problem and is in the app roadmap to fix that as soon as possible.
Moodle doesn't have a generic SSO mechanism, there are plans for adding a generic SSO mechanism in Moodle 2.9 based on SimpleSAML. Once is done, I will try to add support to it in the app as soon as possible. But it will take at least 6 months (in the best case)
Meanwhile, as David Perry suggested. You can installl the local_mobile plugin and force the users to login via the site. The app will open a browser asking your users to login in Moodle and then the app will be reopened again, in this case, the login will be active.

Just checking in to see if (a) this has been updated in Moodle and (b) if the app has now been updated to use SSO or something like it.

I'm sorry but not, SSO still is not possible, I'll try to find a valid solution until a proper SSO solution is implemented in Moodle (maybe something like allow only SSO for sites under https or something similar)
