- Set the Restrict access for the Level 1 label as in the screenshot below:

Moodle 2.7 makes this a whole lot easier! I saw a demo of conditional activities a few years back from Sarah Thorneycroft's Moodle Dailies and was excited by the potential.
I made a course with conditional activities as a demo of what conditional activities can achieve. Anyone can register in this course and see how it works: http://demo.klevar.com/course/view.php?id=2 I am facilitating a free webinar on using Moodle for gamification this wednesday if yo would like to see the course structure: http://klevar-toolsofengagement.eventbrite.com/?aff=gp
Another gamification consultant will also be demonstrating his implementation using Drupal as a front-end and integration into their HR system. Anyone care to join us? We are focusing on applying gamification to the learning journey (rather than at activity level) and are keen to get together with other people exploring the same ideas.
This is my latest demo site (in progress) http://truth-or-dare.org/course/view.php?id=4 based on the challenge set to me to complete my Level 3 Advanced gamification workshop by Gabe Zicchermann which I attended in Sydney last year. The 'twitter' course has been set up as a demo but the framework can be applied to any content.
I have been wondering how can we use Moodle to set up 'lives' that can be lost ( a sub category in the gradebook?), and what behaviours could be logged and calculated as penalties? Any ideas?
Hi
Mary-thanks for the message.
Tim-going to look at the goods when I get time.
Natalie-you have some lovely stuff going on there-Moodle.Net needs a revamp! On the cards-do not run away-you have input that is much needed!

The only problem I find with this set up is that if you make an assignment something that goes invisible after a time, it gets removed from the gradebook!
I really wish there was a way to have something in the gradebook, but invisible on the course.
Hi Phil,
Would it help you to put the assignment in the orphaned area of the main course page and add a link to the assignment in the topic area? You could then make the link invisible in the topic area, but still keep the grade for the assignment.
With kind regards,
Hartmut
You can add items to the gradebook directly. There are some good instructions here:
