Hi,

I'm looking for a moodle plugin with the functionality to store the definitions in one central place in Moodle, let's say in one course. The teacher will be then able to use the definitions among other courses, as well as it will be able to create direct links to the definitions from other courses. Does anyone from you know such a plugin or buildin Moodle functionality?

Well, the tool in Moodle to do this is the Glossary activity. However, it is designed to be used within one course, not shared between courses. I don't know if there is a way to work-around that.

"Administrators can make a global glossary, with entries linking throughout the whole Moodle site. Any course may contain a global glossary, though the best practice is to place a global glossary on the site front page."
