Migrating from Moodle 2.3.2+ on iMac to Moodle 2.5 on a linux host

I want to migrate our current version 2.3.2+ Moodle installation which is on an iMac system, to a new version 2.5 installation that will be on a rented Linux host.

What will be the easiest migration path?

I thought to install a brand new Moodle 2.5 on the new linux host, take backups in the old installation, and restore those backups in the new Moodle installation. Will this work?

Can you please give me advices to make this migration as easiest as possible?

Thanks a lot.

Halil

I too would follow http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Moodle_migration, specifically method 2, also taking the Moodle source files to the new server. That means, you are doing an OS to OS migration, the Moodle version remains the same.

Once you are convinced that migration was successful, go for the upgrade http://docs.moodle.org/25/en/Upgrade. (Always keeping backups http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Site_backup )
