Grader report rows misaligned under Anomaly, Moodle v2.4

We upgraded from Moodle v2.2 to v2.4.3 a few days ago. Our teachers have discovered that

  • in Firefox and IE
  • in a course using the Anomaly theme
  • in Grader report
  • with editing turned on

The rows of marks do not align with the student name. Further, the effect is cumulative -- it gets worse the further down the list of students you go. By the time you get to student #35, the rows are a full two students off (screenshot below).

The effect is variable, based on different versions of FF (it's bad under v15, less so under v20) or IE.

May or may not be significant: Static student column (grade_report_fixedstudents): yes

Any suggestions for a fix? I have limited access to the theme's css; I have to send requested changes to the system admins for installation when they get around to it.

I don't see Anomaly on the list of available themes for Moodle v2.4; has it gone stale?

This is a Moodle BUG and needs to be reported in Moodle Tracker. That way the theme will be fixed in 2.5 and updated and backported to 2.3 & 2.4.

As for your last comment, I don't quite understand what you mean.  If you are using Anomaly in your latest upgrade to 2.4.3 why ask if it has been removed in 2.4? It does not make sense, or did you mean 2.5?  In which case the answer is still NO!

Anomaly has not been removed, if anything it has been enhanced in version 2.5. I added some settings which allows you to add a 'tagline' beneath the title in the header, and also a Custom CSS box so you cam make changes to the way the theme looks using CSS.

Cheers

Mary

Hello Mary,

You asked:

> As for your last comment, I don't quite understand what you mean.  If you are using Anomaly in your latest upgrade to 2.4.3 why ask if it has been removed in 2.4? It does not make sense, or did you mean 2.5?  In which case the answer is still NO!

I went looking for a possible upgrade to the Anomaly theme in Downloads > Plugins > Themes and it wasn't listed. I'd forgotten it was part of the core Moodle distribution.

As I write this, it occurs to me that we're using a slightly modified version of Anomaly (adding our institution logo and modifying the colour scheme) and if Anomaly-core has been updated...

Yup. Mea culpa.

Row alignment in Anomaly-core is just fine. We need to re-apply our changes to the new version.

Many thanks in leading me to the solution Mary!

Further to my last comment. You could try adjusting Settings/User report/My preferences/ Grader settings and make it so that there are fewer student names on the page, which you can do in General (Advanced) settings.

I think the problem stems from the accumalated pixels in the padding of each row. As you can see it looks OK for the first buch of strudents, but looses the plot further down the page.
