Asking for suggestions about software to run a newspaper kind of site.
Need the following (if not right away, will need it in the near future):
- Roles - Reporters may suggest and/or write news but only two or three people will have the ability to actually publish on site.
- All reporters should need to sign in to send stories in for review.
- Ability to add videos (short) and auditory coverage of news (like interviews, question and answer stuff).
- Ability to use "chat" from time to time.
- Ability to use "forums" from time to time.
- Ability to make articles printer friendly
- Way to connect reporter blogs to site so reporters can interact with readers (if the reporters want to) in their own blogs.
- Ability to have articles "archive" atumatically into categories.
- Allow for different types of advertiseing - For example, banner, column, between forum posts, chatroom etc....
- Ability to place "classifieds"
- Ability to create and design custom sections.
- Ability to create polls with or without comments area.
- Good article search capabilities.
- Ability to accept from other sites RSS feeds and to provide different RSS feeds from the site.
- Security, security, security!!!
Any suggestions??
Quark (http://www.quark.com/solutions/newspaper/) is way too expensive. Is there anything like it in Open Source??
