Localization : french version of this module for Moodle 2.x ?

Hello,

There was a french localization of Scheduler module for Moodle1.9.

Is there such a thing in the new version for moodle 2.x ?

If no, I could do it quickly because we need it as fast as possible, using the old localization for exemple, but if someone has already done it I would be very glad if he could share it.

Thanks.

Hello,

no, there's currently no other localization except English for Scheduler 2.x.

I'm sorry, but: je ne parle pas bien le français - my French is very basic only. If you can prepare a French translation, that would be great. The Scheduler 1.9 strings should be a good starting point, but they need to be adapted a bit, particularly with respect to the e-mail templates and some new help strings.

If anyone can provide good translations in any language, I'm willing to add them to the repository. Ideally these would be provided on github so that I can integrate them easily. It's best to work from the "master" or "MOODLE_23_STABLE" branch. Any questions regarding technical details, please let me know.

Someone recently provided Ukrainian and Russian translations, I hope to get these integrated soon.

Best wishes
Henning

Ok.
Thank you for the idea of using Github.

We will do the french translation then.

I will let you know the current progress of the translation very soon.

Once a plugins has been submitted to the plugins database (https://moodle.org/plugins) it is now possible to translate it using the tool at http://lang.moodle.org. (This only became possible recently, but it is now the easiest way to do it.)

Thank you Tim. That' good news.

I have registered on lang.moodle.org and begun to discover AMOS.

I didn't found scheduler in the list of packages at http://lang.moodle.org/local/amos/view.php
It's strange because I think the plugin is submitted to the plugins database !?
https://moodle.org/plugins/search.php?s=scheduler

Sorry to bother you, but the doc I found on AMOs are mainly for the Moodle Core but very few for the module translation, certainly because this feature is rather new.

To be clear, AMOS only gets initialised with the strings for a plugin when a new version of the plugin is uploaded after this feature was implemented about a month ago. So, if the scheduler module was last updated in the plugins database longer ago than that, the strings will not be there yet.

The last upload of Scheduler was on 28 October.

I have found Scheduler on AMOS.
So I used AMOS last week and my contribution is now accepted.

But what now ? My Moodle don't say the language files have changed. It doesn't say there is an update for the module.
How do I update the scheduler module to have the most recent language files ?

I'm puzzled...

Hi Gael,

I recommend using https://poeditor.com for translating from Github. It's an online localization platform that works with various types of files and allows multiple projects with as many languages and translators as you wish. It has Github integration so work is more efficient using it.

I couldn't use AMOS so I used the good old method.

The file is on a github account : https://github.com/semmlille1/moodle-mod_scheduler-FR
It is my first time using GitHub, I hope I didn't do any mistake.

I will use AMOS when I can choose "scheduler" in the list of modules it provide. But for now it isn't possible.

On a side-note, I modified (for our own use) the file mailtemplatelib.php to have the full name of the site and not the shortname displayed in the notification e-mails.

Thanks! I've integrated that into my repository now (MOODLE_23_STABLE and master branches).

The change in mailtemplatelib I've done on the master branch only, since it affects the other language packs as well.

Regarding github: I actually meant that it would be best to start from a fork of the bostelm/moodle-mod_scheduler repository, since I can then integrate changes very easily. But it's fine for the moment, I just copied the files over.

I have done a complete copy of the master repository in my repository.
I have also completed the french localization. So all lines, mails and help texts should be translated by now.

Thank you for the changes in mailtemplatelib. smile

NOTA : in the original english file, "forcewhenoverlap_help" is defined two times. And a "<p>" is missing at the begining of "reuse_help" (and I think there are some others small typing errors in the second paragraph).

And scheduler is still not in the AMOS list. sad
But let us be optimistic, perhaps the next update will be !

I juste discovered we can edit our own translation using moodle itself, in admin mode, using :

Site administration -> Language -> Language customisation

You choose the language you want to edit, then you choose "scheduler" for exemple, in the list and you can edit the translation you don't like or want to adapt to your specific need.
