Accounting Course Question Format

Accounting Course Question Format

Hello,

We're adapting existing face to face accounting courses to online delivery using moodle, and I'm having difficulty finding a quiz question format that will allow participants to enter information into tables (text or numbers), show their calculations, and show their comments and interpretations. The biggest problem lies in finding a quiz question format that will present a table into which they can enter their textual or numeric answers. I tried Cloze, thought it might be the answer, but it appears to be too restrictive in that it requires a correct or incorrect answer (correct me if I'm wrong on this), and doesn't easily allow me to create questions that meet all of the criteria I've listed above. I don't need the marking to be automated, it's fine if the instructor has to mark each question on their own, as the class sizes are very small (max 20).

Thanks for considering this,

Scott Black

The assignment activity might be more appropriate for this task.

I've tried various assignment types, but nothing gives me a table into which participants can enter information. It's quite straightforward to create a table, of course, but as soon as the participant views the assignment it becomes static, like an image. Any ideas?

You could perhaps use the Moodle Database Activity (or the Dataform module (http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Dataform_module), but I've not used that one before myself, but it certainly looks impressive) - form fields such as text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, and so on are by default set out using tables in the activity's templates, which with some playing around I'm sure you could make something like you've described. Here is some light reading on the Database activity لبخند http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Database_activity_module http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Using_Database http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Database_activity_module_FAQ http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Database_activity_settings http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Database_templates http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Building_Database http://elearningkaizen.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/getting-started-with-moodle-database.html Hope that helps. Thanks Matt, that sounds like fruitful ground. I'll check out the links you provided and go from there. If I find the solution I'm looking for, I'll report back.

Thanks again,
