In our old LMS, the attendance system had an option where you could give the students a PIN each day during lecture and then they could check in on the LMS themselves and it would mark them as present instead of the instructor having to mark each student individually. I suppose one could do that with a Moodle Quiz, but is that something that would be worth requesting for this module? (Or can it be done already and I missed it?)

I developed a system where the student can type or scan (barcode) a PIN and the system would automatically mark them as present, late, etc. according to rules that you set up. My system requires the student to clock in and out and the PIN is stored in a custom profile field and so no easy way to update this or hand to students. How would the lecturer go about giving these daily PINs out?

I never used the system myself, but I believe that the instructor just wrote the PIN on the board or showed it on an overhead projector. It wasn't completely secure but it was good enough.
Is your system a Moodle plug-in, or something else?
