Hi there. I got an error message when roaming from a Moodle 1.9 to a Moodle 2 and then attempting to roam into a Mahara. (all roaming rights are set)which took me to the docs here http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/error/mnet/notpermittedtojump

Users who start off in the Moodle 2 are able to roam into the Mahara fine. Is it simply the case that you cannot roam from a Moodle to a Moodle to a Mahara or have I still set something wrong? Thankssmile Bit of a shame if you can't as this was my grand plan for our school, still  on1.9, to be able to accessan instance Moodle 2 and Mahara 1.4sad

Correct. Transitive roaming is not supported.

Thanks for your definitive answer! We shall have to think of Plan B now that we know.

Hi Mary,

I ran into the same situation as what you described here, users from Moodle A -> Moodle B -> Mahara.

Mind to share your plan B ?  Thanks.

Best regards,
Allison

implement a separate system that manages SSO - something like a SAML identity provider works well.

then connect your Moodle/Mahara sites to that identity provider - don't use MNET (which is being replaced anyway)

Thanks Dan for your suggestion. I spoken to another institution whom used SAML for few of their services and works well too. Good idea!

In my scenario as this collaboration involve another institutional, there is a quite complicated process to agree and implement SAML or other SSO. Manual accounts are created to meet the immediate needs at the moment.

We have collaboration with few other institutional via MNet for quite a while and remote enrolment client is an issue now in Moodle 2 (extremely slow and eventually time out in user search!) Hope that the solution to replace MNet will be out soon.
