I think I may have found a bug with Moodle 2. I have tried this on both versions 2.0 and 2.2 and they both behave the same way. To recreate the error:
In Moodle 1.9 a 'Turn Editing off' button appeared when in editing mode but this does not appear in moodle 2+.
Has this been reported previously...or is there another way to turn editing off?

Hi there. I don't quite understand - I just tried in a course and I turned on the editing and then I got the button that said instead "turn editing off" Where are you looking?
Hi Mary - thanks for your help. The problem occurs not within a course, but on the all courses view. I have provided screenshots:
1. Click the Turn Editing On button in the top right
2. Now in edit mode but there is no button to turn editing back off. You have to go back to the front page then return to this page for editing to be turned off.

Hi again - well I'm still confused because when I go to that page I don't get the turn editing on button, let alone the turn editing off variant! Can you do a screenshot from demo.moodle.net of where you mean?
Hi - Just login as admin to demo.moodle.net then paste the following url into your address bar:
Then click the 'Turn Editing On' button.
