I have created an online tekst assignment with inline comments and no grades. When the student look at the commented submission no comments are shown. Is it possible that I as admin have missed something?
I have just created an online tekst assignment with inline comments and grade. Now the student can see the comments (and the grade if provided). So there must be a bug here?
I'm having the same problem with 2.0
I don't want to give a grade for the assignments as they are 'informal' self-study tasks and not part of any course assessment. But I do want to give the students feedback - and really want to be able to do it online rather than having to then print everything out!
At the moment, students can submit their assignment (2 assignments one is online text and feedback comments inline, the other a single file upload with me completing the feedback box for the assignment) I can review it and add the feedback, but the students cannot access the feedback - either directly in the assignment, or through the Grades/User Report.
This is effectively killing 2.0 for my usage at the moment as I might as well just get the students to email me a word file, type the feedback directly on in and email it back to them!
Please can someone tell me if I have missed a trick here somewhere in Moodle2 as i don't recall having this issue at all in 1.9 - I recall it just working!

A workaround:
I have created a two step 'grade scale': Commented, Completed
When the teacher have commented the submitted assignment she use the 'grade' Commented. The student correct the assignment according to the feedback and resubmit. The teacher at last mark the assignment as completed. It might be possible to work with an one step 'grade scale', I do not know.
BTW there is a bug report for the same problem for an Advanced uploading of file assignment: MDL-16553

There is a bug report in the tracker, A student can't see a feedback attached to an assignment with no grade, vote for MDL-29689
