Difference between Ims cp vs scorm

Hello Moodler,

I'd like to understand what are the differences between SCORM and IMS CP or IMS CC. As far as I can see SCORM uses IMS, but usually content can be exported as SCORM or IMS using Articulate. It would mean SCORM is the same as IMS and have additional features?

Please share a link from where I can download Sample IMS-cp.

Thanks for help!

The main difference (at least the one that will interest you) is that IMS is mainly for "static" content - SCORM allows tracking of question/answers and reports a "grade" at the end.

If you want to do any tracking/grading then use SCORM - if you just want to display some content to the user - use IMS

You may find the OpenLearn content at http://openlearn.open.ac.uk helpful.  Each unit is provided for download in a range of different formats, including SCORM, IMS CP and IMS CC.

The OpenLearn materials are all Creative Commons licenced so you can use them in pretty much whatever way you want to.

There are subtle differences between IMS CP and CC, with CC being (apparently) simpler but allowing you to define forums and links as well as content.  For OpenLearn content, SCORM and IMS CP are practically identical, because we did not need include the grading features which Dan mentions.

Does your system offer any export facilities?  Moodle can import things like IMS CP or CC, SCORM and there are conversions for Blackboard and WebCT.

I'm not really the right person to help you with that sort of thing, but hopefully that will give you some idea of where to look and then others here can help you more.

Thanks Jenny, your and Dan information redirceted me in a good direction.

Right now there is no export functioanlity in our system but suerly we will make.

I think we should  export  whole course as IMS CC  and push them into moodle.
