Which Moodle version should I use to start a new site?

Looking for posts and discussion on this topic.  I am starting a new Moodle site and wondering if I should install 2.0 or hang back with 1.9.  While learning about Moodle I discovered that there are free Moodle courses available that I could begin to install on my site.  However, I noticed on this page http://docs.moodle.org/en/Backup_and_restore_FAQ#How_can_I_backup_and_restore_a_course_from_a_1.9_site_to_a_2.0_site.3F

that I cannot import a course from 1.9 into 2.0... if I understand things correctly.  Perhaps I don't even want to use some of the free courses if the other gains of installing 2.0 are greater.

Just looking for some feedback from experienced Moodle users.

Ok, so I just tried to import/restore a 1.x course to my 2.0 Moodle site and it was smart enough to tell me it couldn't do that... yet.  I do appreciate that it knew it couldn't do that rather than try and fail 微笑

So now my question is, what is the ETA (estimated time of arrival) for that function?
