Track Details seems incomplete in v2

I have a Scorm package created by Wondershare Quizmaker that worked fine in our 1.9 version of moodle. I used the Track Details: Other Details to reveal individual question scores as the normal report only listed the final result. The same package loaded into Moodle v2, which I have just installed in a different location, works and reveals the final result but there are items missing from the Track Details.

The following shows the final entries in the 1.9 listing:

There are the same number of entries for all questions 1-10 (0-9). However, these are the final entries for the v2 installation:

For a number of questions there are only two entries and crucially the students' response and result are not always present.

I have tried various things even using a different 2004 version of the same quiz but have found no solution. Given that it's the exact same file I'm at a loss.

Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers

this might be related to MDL-25757 but I haven't had a chance to track this down yet.

I'm not sure it is.

In my simpler SCORM activities - where there is just a single Flash file which passes the grade to the gradebook - the latest version of Moodle seems to fail to pass or record the score correctly.

Moodle 2 passes the learner name correctly to Flash, but at the end of the activity the score is not recorded.  When I go to view the activity for a second time, there is no record of the activity having even started.  When you view the progress, it simply doesn't seem to record the progress at all.

When I view the report, no progress is recorded at all - see how the image says it is 'attempt 1' but then no progress or score is recorded at all.

I couldn't see anything via debugging, but I've fully tested my SCORM .zip in various tools to ensure it is working.  It feels like there is a bug in the tracking / recording of SCORM results, producing incomplete data.

Andrew - were you using demo.moodle.net for your tests? - is it possible you were testing while the site was being reset? (demo.moodle.net is refreshed every hour and all changes made in the past hour are reverted)

Hi - no - I've tested this issue repeatedly.  Initially with demo.moodle.net but then also at http://qa.moodle.net/

Each time I've tested it with known working SCORM activities the score is not correctly tracked.  It seems to record that an attempt was made, but then nothing after that.  When I look to track an attempt I get the report as shown in the screenshot above.

No issues with Moodle 1.9 nor when I've tested the SCORM .zips in the 'SCORM cloud'.  I believe this is an issue with the current SCORM support.  Previously you brilliantly tracked down and fixed a javascript issue with Moodle 2.  I'm just a bit stuck what to do further.

Can provide logs, further information or whatever is needed.

Dan - being Andrew's biggest fan I have tried his SCORM games on my own Moodle 2.0.1 (20101225) and I can confirm his findings -ie; Moodle 2.0 just won't let it work . ( Demo Moodle is on 2.0 from 20101206 and the QA is updated weekly so really I think the QA Moodle is better for testing by the way)

I get the same 'no result' as you if I am using a Scorm2004 package even if I had managed with some success using that same package in moodle 1.9. The partial logs I received were with a scorm 1.2 package

Also, to make completely sure it wasn't my .zip package (even thought I'm sure it isn't) I tried with a few similar SCORMs from the repository.  Each time the same thing happens in Moodle 2:

  • Can start the activity
  • When game / activity completed, press 'exit activity' as expected
  • When you go to review a score or look what has been tracked - nothing is there.  It just shows the same as the above screenshot.

I've uploaded the specific SCORM .zip (although I think it has to be made public) I have been using to the repository - and just to repeate this works perfectly in Moodle 1.9 and in the other test platforms I've used.  It seems like somehow SCORM in Moodle 2 currently fails to record progress / pass 'completion' status on.

Happy to post a bug report if that would help but also don't want to waste peoples' time.

Here's what I got in 1.9 using same SCORM file as in repo: student sees their score:

teacher sees score in gradebook:

In 2.0, student sees their score:

but teacher doesn' t get anything in gradebook:

Thanks for that Mary - that is exactly the issue.

When you go on to view the attempt details in Moodle 2 you get the screenshot I posted earlier in this thread - no details appear to be tracked at all:

so just to confirm - the user can see the correct information on their grading page, but the admin/teacher can't see the same detail? - Definately log a bug about this in the tracker!

No - it isn't even that.  Nobody - admin, teacher, user - seem to be able to see their score.  It feels like the score isn't actually correctly parsed / passed to Moodle on completion of the SCORM activity.

I'll log a bug in the tracker with a clear explanation.
