I have posted in the past so forgive me if this seems redundant but I still don't understand.
I am a traditional classroom instructor and I need a tool that will track my classes. However, I'd like to reuse some "course" information. Let me explain...
I've used other Learning Management Systems that allowed for "Course" definitions. Using those "parent" objects one could then create "classes" that ran on specific days. It helped with reporting and tracking. Here's how I would like it to work.
Create a "Course" that contains a description of the content, a duration, room requirements, equipment requirements, and a few other details. What it does NOT include is a date and time or specific attendees assigned.
That would go into a "Class"! I'd like to use the "Course" defined earlier as a parent object to create a class that then gets attatched to a specific date and time. The "Class" item would accumulate students and after the physical delivery of a class we could close the session and grade the results. Those results would appear on the students transcripts. Finally, we could search for everyone who has ever taken a specific course from the "Course" level or look at a specific instance at the "Class" level.
Does Moodle allow for that type of a structure or tracking? I see it being very useful for distance education and classes that last a whole semester but I'm having trouble setting up the above hierarchy for just one class. I'm concerned that it is terminology or the naming conventions that are confusing me. Please help me understand how to set this up for my installation of Moodle.
Thank you
