Problems with re-design

I've hit a couple of problems with the re-designed moodle.org website:

  1. Messages - I get an email telling me that I have a new message, but the only way I have found to reply to that message is to search the site for the name of the person who posted it (hoping to find a forum posting or comment of theirs), then click on their name and click to send them a message. I used to get a pop-up showing their message when I logged in. Is there something obvious I am missing?
  2. Comments on the modules & plugins database are not visible at all if you have not logged in, which means my attempts to automatically track comments on my plugins (via Page2RSS) no longer work. With 4 different plugins to track and the extra step of having to type in my username & password each time I want to check for comments, this is a major step backwards as far as I am concerned (unless there is a plan, very soon, to offer RSS feeds for comments).

Are there any suggestions about how to solve either of these problems?

1. The message block is still there on the side of http://moodle.org/course/view.php?id=5 for me, and it works like it always did, I think.

2. The comments are there, you just have to click a link to reveal them.

If you find a real problem with this site, then please report it as a subtask of MDLSITE-970. Remember to search first to make sure no one else has reported the same thing.

Davo, thanks for your feedback on moodle.org using Moodle 2.0. 微笑

Regarding messages, have you tried reconfiguring the destinations for incoming messages (via the messaging link in your profile settings)? I've ticked every single checkbox to make absolutely sure I receive any messages!

Comments in the modules and plugins database, as you found, are only viewable by logged-in users. However, I've just tried editing the guest user role so that comments are now viewable by people using guest access. Does this make it possible for you to automatically track comments?

As Tim mentions, please do report any problems with moodle.org as subtasks of MDLSITE-970, or if you think something is problem with Moodle 2.0 generally, as an MDL issue.

Actually, having just got a message, I can confirm that there is now way to reply through the Moodle UI. The message arrived in my inbox, but it is not shown in the mesaging block, nor in the messaging UI.

I think that the upgrade shoudl set default settings for each user, so that it works like it always used to.
