It probably does not work as the TeX Notation filter has not been activated. Sorry, I should have noted this earlier. The only way I know that it does not work is if the filter is not working, which means it has not been activated. Go and have a look at the Using TeX Notation pages link above and see if it is. If not, then activate the filter - should work then.
