Saving a course for re-use

Saving a course for re-use

Apologies if this is in the wrong Forum.

I am looking for a way to save activities and resources from my courses so that I can re-use them in subsequent courses.

If, for example I write a Quiz for one course - is there some way to save this Quiz so that I can easily upload it to a different course?

Thank you.

Hi Rory
You have a couple of options here, one is to backup the course which creates a zip file that can be restored into another course or into a new course. If you go this way you can select to import only the quiz if you like or all activities.

Another option is to export the quiz questions from this course and import them into another course. If you go this way I suggest exporting as Moodle XML format, you'll also have to re-create the quiz activity as this only deals with the questions.

I hope this helps
Cheers

Backups and Export/Import is one way to go but I always tend to forget exactly what I have in those files and I don't want to go to the extra bother of keeping notes about what is in them.

What I have developed for my self is a hidden backup course where I keep a copy of all my quizzes/glossaries/assignments/etc. If you do not have admin/course creation privileges, have the admin make it for you and set it so that only you and a fake student (for testing) account have access.

Then, I use the Sharing Cart to move a copy of them to wherever I need it. So far I've only found one thing I could not move this way...Real Time Quizzes...but there might be others.sad

The nice thing about using this method, is that I always have a copy of whatever assignment/quiz/lesson etc. online that I can take/tryout/modify without it impacting my active class the students are using.

Hope this helps.
