How to use the session theme function?

Hi,

We are exploring the session theme function explained here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Theme_settings#Session_themes .

Now, I wonder if I understand this correctly, if using a subdomain, for instance bio.example.com, can
  • we have another site theme activated so that the user's experience surfing in from this subdomain will be different from another user's surfing in from the main site example.com which has a different theme?
  • we use it with Moodle 1.9?

Hello Jonas,

I don't know anything about using Session Themes, but reading the Moodle Doc on the subject it does look as though the answer to your question is yes!

In fact this is just the thing I'm looking for on my Moodle site. I'll have to test it out and see.

If you have both Moodle sites set up on your server, it would be interesting to see if it works in your case. If you put a link on your Moodle site in the Sub-Domain (bio.example.com) which directs users to you Main Site (example.com) they should see the theme you have specified in your hyperlink URL....so the URL would look something like this...

http://example.com/course/view.php?id=18&theme=myexampletheme

Of course you would have to first make changes to the config.php for it to work, as is stated in the Moodle doc.

Hi Jonas,

Here's my test and it works! First take a look at the website before you click on the test link below. MOODLE STUDIO as it is normally...

And HERE is the link which has another theme defined in the URL...
