It gives me great pleasure to announce the further release of approximately 140 algebra questions in STACK format as open educational resources.

Each of these questions should have
  • randomly generated versions
  • full worked solution
You can see these questions directly without going through Moodle using the Direct interface. STACK is designed to integrate with the Moodle quiz module for use with students where identity management is important.

As a catalogue of questions I have, with permission, used "A pocket map of algebraic manipulation" by Tony Barnard of Kings College London. See http://stack.bham.ac.uk/worksheets/pdf/AlgebraMap.pdf

At the heart of the secondary school algebra curriculum lies the development of skills in algebraic manipulation. This little booklet collects together for reference some of the stepping stones of experiences in the development of these basic algebraic skills.

The new version of Tony's Map has links to on-line exercises and worked solutions provided by the STACK system.

The source code for the STACK questions has been released released under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

The source code has been placed in the STACK CVS under sample_questions/oer/AlgMap.xml.

The work on the calculus refresher has been made possible, in part, by support from the FETLAR Project. http://www.fetlar.bham.ac.uk/ The FETLAR project is the MSOR community's bid through the Subject Centre strand for the Open Educational Resources (OER) call from HEFCE/JISC.

I would very much welcome collaborative help in improving this resource. There are "gaps", i.e. questions I've not yet written, and you could also help by improving the worked solutions and randomization. If you would like to help, please let me know. I hope we can build this into a worthwhile common pool of questions.
