seeking non-MP high service hosting

seeking non-MP high service hosting

I am a teacher who needs hosting for my own personal courses only, no more than 100 students per semester. I have been using Godaddy, but it is too slow and unreliable, and I don't have confidence in my Moodle maintenance chops should something go seriously haywire mid-semester.

I have nothing against Moodle Partners, but of the MPs in the US, two of them are out of my price range, and the third won't return my emails inquiring about their low-end plan.

I need either a non-US MP or a non-MP who can provide hosting and maintenance for a single teacher that someone on a teacher's salary can afford.

Thanks, Thomas

I have a hosting company knghosting.com if you wish to try that. You can have Moodle installed in a couple of clicks.

What kind of maintenance would you need? I also offer custom plans if you need something special. My contact information is on the site.

Thanks
Keith

My primary need is for a budget shared hosting account that can *reliably* handle thirty students at the same time without lagging. Godaddy fails miserably on that measure.

My secondary preference would be to have someone maintain the security, tuning, and updating of my Moodle install, although if this runs into too much money then I will have to get better at it myself. But I would prefer to only have to deal with themes and course content.

tnx, thomas

DH may be a good place for you to start. You can be up and running in minutes and 30 students should be manageable. It us very inexpensive, but there are outages. You can browse dhstatus to see track record and responses of DH users. There are quite a few DH Moodlers who can help you out and the DH wiki as well as moodle.org has material addressing issues you may face.

Hello,

http://www.keytoschool.com/ specialises in free Moodle hosting. I haven't used it myself but this was recently posted:

I have been hosted by Key to School http://www.keytoschool.com/ since just after they started in February and I can't speak highly enough of the service. They offer specialist Moodle hosting, free. The support has been superb.
