Drag and drop reusable modules

Drag and drop reusable modules

I did some Google searching on "reusable moodle objects."
There are many links, but nothing I saw seemed to address the question I have.

Someone I know wants to develop multiple introductory biology courses. Each one would have a different emphasis, but most would have at least some overlapping domain concepts. The organizers of this project don't want to have to rewrite the same chapters over and over again. They would rather have a menu item (when building a new course) that allows click-selecting or dragging to bring in a previously-defined group of pages that--who knows what--provide some opening discussion about DNA sequences perhaps.

Can moodle do that now? I don't see it in the documentation.
Seems like both an obvious and important ability.

Hello Sandy,

This forum is intended for social chatting. You would get more answers for a technical question like this in one of the Using Moodle forums: General Problems for example.

But as yout question is easy to answer I'll do it here. You can do what you want in Moodle though not by drag and drop. When you create a new Moodle course in the Administration block (see below) you can click on Import and import a whole previous course or just selected parts of it. See Import course data for more details.

Cheers,
Glenys

Another way to duplicate is to log-in to your Moodle twice - use 2 TABS in your browser or run your browser twice.

Then simply copy & paste from the HTML editor of your 'master' course to the HTML editor of the new course you are creating.

This is much easier and quicker than zipping up and then exporting/importing between courses, and you can 'see' the results as you do it.
