from QuizPort's point of view, the important thing is that "Source file" of the quiz must be a url which looks something like this:
The "http://www.qedoc.com/library/" must always be the same, and the "ABCDE_123.zip" part is the name that Qedoc automatically gives to your Qedoc module when you upload it to the Qedoc shared materials site.
If you need help on how to create a Qedoc module, or how to upload the module to "http://www.qedoc.com", I'm afraid I don't exact details, so can only suggest you try the main Qedoc site:
- Qedoc: http://www.qedoc.org
Gordon
my fault first was that I uploaded the zip-file anddidn't link to it. Thanks.
But now I get an error message "Missing QuizPort quiz class file: C:\xampplite\htdocs\moodle/mod/quizport/output/qedoc/class.php"
There is no qedoc/ folder in output.
best regards
Ralf
German translator of Qedoc Player.
Dear Ralf,
sorry about that error message. I had forgotten to include the Qedoc output format in the latest download of QuizPort. Yikes!
I have added the Qedoc output format to the zip now, so please download the latest version of QuizPort when you have time:
best regards
Gordon
its working now for me. Great functionalities.
In the next step we need some help files. There is a basic information all users need for this tool. What do you think about a readme file in the module with this information.
QEDOC and Quizport.
For using QEDOC in quizport you have to do this steps as teacher:
Create your quizes with QEDOC quiz maker (http://www.qedoc.com/products.php?p=author) and store them at Qedoc.
If they are published you can add the link to the Qedoc zip-file from the Qedoc Resource Wiki (http://www.qedoc.org/en/index.php?title=Category:Learning_Modules) to the Quizport settings.
Your students can use the Qedoc quizzes only after installing the Qedoc player on their local system.
For using QEDOC in quizport you have to do this steps as student:
Install the Qedoc Quiz playerfrom http://www.qedoc.com/products.php?p=player
Start the Quizport/Qedoc quiz from your Moodle course.
The quiz opens in a new window. At the top of the page you can swith the language.
Results of your quiz are stored in your Moodle course.
Hi Ralf,
thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear that QuizPort is working well for you now.
> What do you think about a readme file in the module with this information.
The explanations you gave are great, but I think the readme file for the module should just say how to install the module and then point people to Moodle docs for more info. Therefore, I think the explanations for how teachers and students can interact with Qedoc modules via Moodle and QuizPort should be in help files and / or Moodle docs.
However, as you say the whole module needs help files in all the languages known to Moodle, so I would like to suggest we need a plan for the help files and tutorial videos, and I will get going on that as soon as I can.
In the meantime, please keep experimenting with Qedoc and QuizPort and sending in your feedback.
many thanks
Gordon
I need to make quizzes in which some of the questions or multiple choice answers contain audio/images/video. And I need to track the results of the quizzes (e.g. student01 question01 correct, student01 quiz01 overall grade 90%). Can Quizport and Qedoc help me with this?
Hi Tom.
Yes - Qedoc and Quizport can help you with this.
Very simple explanation: Qedoc does the quizzes; Quizport does the results tracking. So make a Qedoc quiz first (or use someone else's), and then feed it into Quizport. For Qedoc information and sample quizzes, go to www.qedoc.org.
James
Hi Ralf, Hi James,
I am making good progress now with the help files for QuizPort and I will add the explanation about Qedoc to the mods.html document which is the main file that explains to people what the module does.
As James suggests we can certainly add the information to the document wikis for both Qedoc and Moodle.
I should have the help files done by the end of the week, at which time I will add them to the zip download so you can have a look. Of course, you are very welcome to translate any of the files into German - that would be wonderful
best regards
Gordon
Sorry to be late waking up to this thread, Ralf.
If you'd like the readme file in the Qedoc module to be modified as standard, it's easily done - I can do this in the next build of the Qedoc Quiz Maker.
An alternative suggestion: a link to Moodle integration instructions could be placed on the Qedoc wiki at www.qedoc.org as a template which appears in the module page for every module. Unlike the above suggestion, this would retrospectively add instructions to all existing modules.
You are also correct that instructions need writing. I talked briefly with Gordon about this a few weeks back, but I'm afraid I haven't done it yet. As Moodle Docs and the Qedoc wiki both understand Mediawiki format, it would be sensible to mirror the instructions in both places.
James
the main problem seems to be for me that a basic description is not available.
The first information is about the tool and how it works with Qedoc.
In difference to other tools (like Hotpotatoe) students need a Qedoc Player on their PC. Without this they can't use Qedoc modules.
The benefit of Quizport is that you can use all the quiz question types (more than 70) from Qedoc and more than 1000 Qedoc quizzes and the results are tracked by Moodle. And Qedoc has a very nice interface.
Ralf
Hi Ralf,
>students need a Qedoc Player on their PC
This was true a number of years ago, but it is no longer true today. Most people use a cross-platform web version of the Player. Quizport also uses this web version. To integrate Qedoc into Quizport/Moodle, all you need to install is Quizport. (I'm assuming your computer already has java).
Best regards,
James
