I wonder if there are studies about social media that focus on the psychological issues behind procrastination, and the role that they have in the success of Web 2.0 and social media. Most people seem to be more willing to start on something, anything, than what's already "on the list". I know I am. Many of these web 2.0 services feed that need. They give a license to bounce around, even more so than the traditional web, which is already "bad" enough.

Obviously that's not necessarily entirely a bad thing. But for many, social media seems to give procrastination tools that don't make you feel as guilty as if you'd just been watching TV.
