Is it possible to register somehow that a resource has been read/consulted. For the learner this would help them to track their own progress. For the tutor it would ensure a common base point for discussions.

I think this would be an excellent idea, If all objects inside of the course could have a corresponding check box so the user/student could check off as they complete each task, maybe an assignment, resource, forum posting, etc.
It could be solely utilized by the user/student and not affected by instructors grading or user/student clicking on the link. They would need to manually click and keep track of what they have accomplished and what they have not.
It seems like it would be a fairly easy adjustment to add, or perhaps not?

In your course settings you can select an option to show the activityreports tot the students. Then every student can check his own activity for every resource, forum, ...

Thanks Koen. Thats a useful starting point. I was thinking more of ticking them off as they were done so that the learner had a clear idea of how much was left to do.
