Hi to all,
I've just tried to setup the dialogue activity module (latest version) on my Moodle 1.8(.5) and got this French error message :
Le module « dialogue » (2008081101) n'a pas pu être installé. Il requiert une version plus récente de Moodle (votre version actuelle est 2007021550, vous avez besoin de la version 2007101509)
Which means it doesn't work because of a version problem. I have 2007021550 and it requires 2007101509.
My platform is stable compared with bugs on versions 1.9 and 2 and would like to keep it. Does anybody know where I could find the right dialogue module for 1.8 ?
Thanks a lot
Christophe
Hi Rob (and Christophe),
When updating the module a number of v1.9 specific features were introduced (groupings, navigation changes etc) which means that although you COULD get the module to install (by altering the version.php file that ships with it) the scripts will fail when they try to use these newer features. If you clicked the "Download latest version" link to get the module code then you will have this 1.9 specific version
What you need is a copy of the MOODLE_18_STABLE version of the module for your local install. If you use CVS then you should be able to do something like this inside the mod/dialogue module directory:
cvs update -dP -r MOODLE_18_STABLE
NOTE: be careful not to do that in the top level Moodle directory unless you are sure thats what you want to do. For more info on CVS checkout this page.
Hope this helps, and sorry for the delayed response to you Christrophe, I missed your post. At this stage noone that I know of is actively maintaining the older 1.8 version, but feel free to email any patches you may have and we can look at committing them into CVS for other 1.8 users of the module.

I wonder whether the problem is not related to the plugins page setup for this module. It has a link only to the newest version, which is obviously wrong for people using older Moodles. I think it should be a requirement on that page (unfortunately, it is not) to provide version specific links like in the following
