The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of National Network of Libraries of Medicine Web Services Office (NWSO) is currently looking for a Lead Learning Management System (LMS) Developer.

The Assistant LMS Developer is responsible for working with the Lead LMS Developer to maintain and enhance NNLM’s LMS and build a new LMS for the NIH All of Us initiative. The position requires an independent, self-motivated programmer who can research, install, and configure Moodle plug-ins to expand NNLM’s LMS capabilities while ensuring all new functions meet or exceed HHS security standards and are 508 compliant. The LMS Developer will possess strong programming and coding skills with knowledge of Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; the ability to learn new languages and tools is also beneficial to continued development.

The position will report to the Executive Director but will work closely with the Lead LMS Developer to configure and test the new system and upgrade the existing system. Additionally, the Assistant LMS Developer will work with the Lead LMS Developer to create a balanced workload, cross-train, and provide coverage for vacations and sick time.

The position requires helping to manage the current Moodle installation for general NNLM teaching, along with building a new LMS for the All of US initiative with a broad target population. Each system will require a Learning Objects Repository that the Lead LMS Developer is responsible for selecting and configuring; the Assistant LMS Developer will provide help with the configuration and testing. Additionally, the Assistant LMS Developer is responsible for helping to manage 508 compliance for the systems.

The Assistant LMS Developer may also be called upon to occasionally assist with other NNLM web services such as Drupal and WordPress.

The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity. EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled
