Job offered: Junior/Intermediate/Senior Moodle developer roles

The UCL Moodle team is looking to expand its Moodle development capacity further. We are on the lookout for a couple of contract developers.

For Junior / Intermediate developers, to reinforce our daily running of the platform

  • bug fixing community plugins
  • bug fixing core Moodle
  • minor improvements of core Moodle
  • code maintenance prior to upgrades
  • writing automated tests (adding coverage to pre-existing plugins)

For senior / principal developers - depending on experience and interests, we have a number of in flight projects

  • Course Lifecycle Automation
  • Creating a full suite of SITS Integration plugins re-usable across institutions using modern API and event based integration patterns
  • Assessment Workflows
  • Feedback Tracking and workload scheduling
  • and many more ideas on the backlog

Our Moodle Developers are supported and enabled by:

  • GitHub pipelines to deploy code to personal testing environments and run full test suites
  • multi-disciplinary team of Devs, Learning Technologists, Tech Leads and Ops
  • Peer Reviews with a Large Scale Moodle mindset of adopting core best practices
  • alignment to Moodle Coding Standards
  • upstream first policy
  • team of early adopters of Agile (SAFe) / DevSecOps / Cloud / AI / …
  • all of our Moodle Developers have now become core contributors
  • continuous investment in upskilling with innovation sprints and time to apply relevant new skills during sprints
  • attending MoodleMoots

We are oriented towards the global Moodle community, part of the Moodle User Association, a financial contributor to the Quiz consortium and always on the look out for further collaboration opportunities to improve the Moodle ecosystem.

Funding for these positions would be for the August 2024 - July 2025 period initially. We expect these contractor positions to be fully remote.
